How Many People Went For The Doernbecher 5?

4 years ago by in Footwear, Style

In less than one minute, a total of 33,795 people clicked the Nike store Twitter Link only release for the Doernbecher Jordan 5. With prices skyrocketing to over $1,000, its no wonder the shoe was so competitive.

To put it into perspective, in a perfect world, you hypothetically had a 0.002959017% chance of scoring a pair. One of the most sought after releases of the year so far, Isaac Wayne Arzate’s Doernbecher 5 Model has an  amazing story behind the design.

The 23 stitching has been replaced with the number 9, and inside the tongue reads “I.W.A.”

Sadly, this inscription refers to Isaac Wayne Arzate, a 12-year-old Salem boy who survived a nearly fatal heart attack in early January during basketball practice and then underwent life-saving heart surgery, passed away at basketball practice. His friend picked up where the design left off to deliver an extraordinary Doernbecher model.

Featuring black waxed laces, glow in the dark ink, and a beautiful poem inscribed onto the shoe, we hope everyone who was lucky enough to get a pair keeps Isaac’s story in mind when lacing them up.
